Crofton, NE, is the gateway to the Lewis and Clark Lake State Recreation Area and on the Missouri River across from Yankton, SD.

Ponca State Park is great family destination on the Lewis & Clark Auto Tour for Northeast Nebraska.

The Summit Lake State Recreation Area features a new playground, camping, fishing, and an equestrian trail around the lake.

South Sioux City features the patriotic Siouxland Freedom Park honoring the area’s military veterans. Siouxland Freedom Park is on Riverside Drive and across the Missouri River from Sioux City’s scenic Riverfront Area.

Vermillion is the location of the Lewis and Clark Trail historic site of Spirit Mound where visitors can stand upon today.

Home of the only visitor center on the Lewis and Clark Trail that displays replicas of every watercraft used by the expedition, plus interactive exhibits.

This area includes the Fort Randall Dam, Francis Case Lake and the Randall Creek Recreation Area.

Yankton is the home of the Gavins Point Dam and Spillway and is the gateway city for water sports on the Missouri National Recreation River Water Trail.

A good place to start a road trip with the Loess Hills Hospitality & Visitors Center. Historic Preparation Canyon State Park is nearby.
