Niobrara, NE

Niobrara State Park – at NE-12. This Nebraska State Park is the perfect family vacation getaway on the Lewis and Clark Trail. The scenic 1,314-acre park features modern cabins, swimming pool, horseback rides, group conference facilities, modern campgrounds, and great views of the upper Missouri River country. For current park features, go to outdoornebraska.gov. The Niobrara area also includes the Kreycik Riverview Elk Ranch, Ponca Tribal Museum, Chief Standing Bear Memorial Bridge Turnout.

Lynch, NE

The Lewis and Clark Expedition saw their first Prairie Dogs in 1804 at the tall butte that is today named the “Old Baldy Landmark near today’s Lynch, NE. It took hours for them to catch one and when they finally did, they kept it alive over winter, then shipped him back to Washington D.C. for President Thomas Jefferson to view.

Winnebago, NE

The Winnebago Nation reservation features the inspiring Honoring of the Clans statue and the Angel de Cora Memorial Museum and Research Center. The annual powwow is held in late July. For more information, go to: https://winnebagotribe.com
